It’s difficult to predict the future of independent filmmaking. It’s always changing. Every year someone comes out – mainly journalists – declaring the movement is dead. And yet every year a completly original independent film comes out of nowhere and has success. Sure, the definition is muddled, confusing, and mostly used as a marketing label. But there is a spirit that can be identified in true independents. Its pulse may be weaker at times, but independent film will always remain alive as long as there are original voices – and there always will be.
